The first one arrived at 2:17 in the morning, which is why he remembered the time.
Vikram was awake because he was always awake. He had a laptop on a table made of two crates and a door, a mug of tea with a skin on it, and a dashboard with fifty-one dots, one for each person who used the thing he had built.
The email was from a user called Tanvi. Hi, odd question. There's a page in my Pagewise that isn't mine. It starts "Dear Dad, I don't know how to tell you this" and I did not write it. I am not sure what to do. I haven't read past the first line.
He read the email three times. Then he opened the database and typed a query that he would later recognise as the moment a long season began.
The page existed. It was in Tanvi's account. It had been created at 02:17:04. The author id was not Tanvi's.
