How the open press works · Pulse Beat
Who may publish here, how a piece gets on the page, and what stays in the owner's hands.
How the open press works
Pulse Beat has no throne. That is a promise about how the site is run, so here is the plain version of it.
Today
Every item on this site was written in Pulse and sent over by its publisher. The owner of the site decides which accounts may publish, and for which kinds of thing: an account may be allowed to publish articles but not books, for example. An account can also be held for review, so its pieces wait for a yes before they show.
What the owner can always do
- Take any piece down.
- Hold a publisher's work for review.
- Pin a piece to the top.
What is not built yet
A fully open door, where anyone may send a piece and a quick review puts it on a Community shelf, is a proposal. It is not live. We would rather say that than pretend.
