The pivot, if you could call it that, took her one weekend and two pots of coffee.
She did not tear anything down. She added a new first screen, called Today, which showed only three things: what to prepare, what to buy, what to throw away. Everything else slid underneath it like drawers.
It was ugly. It had no logo on that screen at all. When she showed it to Kabir on Monday, he squinted and said, "That's the whole app?"
"That's the part people use."
He tapped through it slowly. Then he laughed, a short surprised sound. "It's what I'd want at nine at night when I'm too tired to think."
"Exactly."
"The forecasting is doing all the work behind it."
"Exactly."
He sat back, studying it as a mechanic studies an engine he has built. "I'm leaving in three weeks," he said. "I could make it faster."
"Could you?"
"I could try." He looked, for a moment, like a man who had forgotten to be tired.
