On the thirty-third day, the server fell over.
It happened at 6.40 on a Wednesday morning, the exact hour when a hundred and eighty kitchens opened their phones to check the day's forecast. Meera woke to forty-one missed messages and a rising, nauseous certainty.
She was at the laptop within a minute. The database had hit a limit she had not known existed, a connection pool sized for twenty users and never revisited. Every request was queueing, timing out, failing.
She restarted the service. It held for four minutes. She enlarged the pool. It held for twelve. She found a slow query she had written in her second week, the one that built the forecast from scratch on every request, and wrote a fix with her hands slightly unsteady.
By nine, the app was back. She did not move from the chair until ten.
Then she wrote a message to all hundred and eighty kitchens, and read it twice before sending: This morning, Thali was down for two hours. It was our fault. Your numbers are safe. Today is free.
